Ange Postecoglou ‘happy to disappoint’ King Charles as Tottenham boss looks to beat his favourite Premier League team

ANGE POSTECOGLOU joked he would be "happy to disappoint" King Charles by leading Spurs to victory over Burnley tomorrow.

That came after the Spurs boss was a guest at Buckingham Palace earlier this week.

In today's pre-game press conference, he was reminded that the King swore his allegiance to Burnley in 2012.

When asked if he was ready to disappoint the monarch, Postecoglou joked: "That's probably why they kept him away from me, mate.

"I'll be happy to disappoint him on that front mate. Not a problem."

It comes after Postecoglou visited the Palace on Wednesday as a guest of the Australian government.

He was joined by joined by Aussie compatriots Scott Munn, Spurs’ chief operating officer, first-team coach Mile Jedinak and Charlotte Grant of the women’s team.

The guests did not meet the Royals during the visit, however.

Of more pressing concern for the Spurs boss is a need to correct an alarming run of form for his side.

Postecoglou set an unwanted record of four losses on the bounce after last weekend's 4-2 defeat to Liverpool - a feat that hasn't happened at Tottenham for 20 years.

Those losses have come to Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and the aforementioned Liverpool - and Burnley should offer a chance for some reprieve.

The Clarets are currently 19th in the table and victory for Spurs would relegate Vincent Kompany's side.

Spurs' loss of form has them looking more so over their shoulder than ahead to fourth place now, and three points would help them keep the resurgent Newcastle and Chelsea at bay.
